A free valence electron to react,
Potassium is on the positive side to act,
In the perodic system it represents a K,
how does this suit to potassium you might say.

Potassium referes to the pot ash,
since antiquity in peoples stash,
for fertilization of farmland,
or soap for body and hand,

In chemistry arabia is well educated,
and to al-qalyah, plant ashes, related,
The name Kali was proposed,
and with latinisation to Kalium enclosed.

It is part of ATP,
the body power horse of energy,
major role in homeostasis,
means the intercellular basis,

It regulates many body functions,
and is important for many junctions,
we are well adviced to keep it as intended,
as in disbalance life might fast be ended.

Potassium is an enhancer of life,
for humans and plants to live and strive,
to clean, to bake for nutriation,
