Zargun, means „as gold“. Right.
Soft and malleable, but white
It properties led to its name,
from the Persian language it came.
There it is, the transition metal Zirconium,
comes along with Tin and Titanium.
It is literally part of sand,
and not that rare in the end.
Klaproth, a German pharmacist,
found out that Zirconium does exist.
Berezelius succeeded where Davy failed,
the Swedish scientist prevailed.
He could isolate it, still not very pure,
but it was a new element for sure.
As a metal it is rarely used due to a combination,
that is very hindering in metallic realization.
It has a high melting temperature,
lets go for the powder route to get it pure.
As metal powder it is extremely flammeable,
which makes it hardly processable.
Impurities kill ductility,
so as you can now see.
Zirconium is hard to use as metal,
but it is important, let me tell.
It improves as alloying element,
if corrosion environments are to withstand,
But the main purpose is as oxide,
there Zirconium does not need to hide.
It is used as a ceramic most precious,
with properties unique and marvelous.
It is comparable flexible and resistant,
for industry furnaces most significant.
With Yttrium the cubic conformation is stabilized,
very recommended and advised.
A high performance ceramic fundamental for industry,
with oxygen it sets the power of teamwork free.
Zirconium, soft and weak if pure,
but with friends it makes sure,
to surpass limitations,
in so many different variations.
It teaches us friendships power,
teamwork every day, every hour.
Together we can be so much more,
and everytime we become better than before.
