A well known canditate,
everyday met in his gaseous state.
From Rutherford discovered in air,
Nitrogen is not rare.

The name suggested from a french man,
others suggested azot as its name.
But calling it no life would be incorrect,
without Nitrogen life could not act.

Nitrogen is a gas, two atoms combined,
and generally as inert gas assigned.
The major component in air, colourless,
unseen and odorless.

It is what we breath every day,
required in air in a different way,
as it regulates the oxygen pressure,
for life a critical measure.

Most of the Nitrogen is bound in biomass,
where it defines more than one organic class.
Amino acid, Nylon, azo compounds,
Ammonia makes the world go round,

It literally codes for our DNA,
Nitrogen is essential for life, I would say.
Very problematic is the oxygen combination,
usually from an insufficient burning situation.

Brown nitrous gases are dangerous,
setting them free is ridiculous.
Nitrogen can be liquified,
low temperatures required.

A very good cooling agent,
in industry highly relevant.
Used to cool diagnostic devices
good due to availeability and low prices

Nitrogen is an important nutrient,
to produce it, a lot of effort is spent.
For farming and food production,
necessary for plant material construction.

Nitrogen is practically most of the air,
and it is cuddeling us from there,
Fundamental for our existences,
in so many instances.

Like a peacful companion, always there,
sometimes unnoticed, just thin air,
Knowing us better than we do,
it defines our DNA, to make us come true.
