This metal is very unique,
the missing fourty-three, kind of mystique.
From a russian guy successfully predicted,
its discovery was politically conflicted.

It was wrongly discovered and named Masurium,
the name problematic, the honor too soon.
The german scientists confused it with Iridium,
or an alloy of Niob-Tantalum.

Two italian chemists Segrè and Perrier,
found it fair and square.
Originally mistaken as a radioactive molybdenum foil,
they demonstrated it in hard toil.

The reason behind this difficulty,
is the strange reality,
that, alltough it is a light transition metal,
Technetium only exists radioactive at all.

It has to be created, artificially generated,
this is why Technetium as a name was elaborated.
Due to its shortliving it plays no particular role,
in nature and life cycle at all.

Still due to its six hours halftime of isotope ninety-nine,
it is part of a high variety of cancer medication design.
The ninety-five can help tracing metabolic ways,
it is less active and gone in sixty one days.

Impractical due to radioactivity but highly efficient,
as a catalyst it would be an improvement.
compared to Rhenium or Palladium applications,
still, there have been serious experimentations.

That is Technetium, a quite cool metal,
besides traces, artificial at all.
And it is used in medical care,
and not in stupid warfare.

So if you feel unstable, try to be Technetium,
cool down after a six hours spinning perpetuum,
just to find yourself to be completely different,
relaxed, beautiful and significant.
